EMIDS is a highly capable, lightweight, low cost, remote ground surveillance system used by military, border security and law enforcement agencies around the world. The performance of this COTS equipment matches other systems costing several times the price.
EMIDS is an expandable system with an ability to monitor up to 999 sensor ID codes. A wide range of ground sensors is available including seismic, passive infrared, magnetic, infrared break beam, break wire, hydrophone and buoy transducers. Each remotely hidden sensor has a different ID number and when activity occurs, the sensor transmits the ID as a short radio burst to a command post receiver. Signal monitoring can be by a hand held receiver, hand held plotter or through a computer interface. The computer will record the activations and can display them on a map. The type of sensor(s) deployed are selected in accordance with the perceived threat. The system has built-in fault and tamper alarms.
Various accessories are available including range-enhancing relays and power amplifiers, and carrying cases.
