Stressalert hull stress monitoring system

The Strainstall 'StressAlert ll' system continuously measures hull stress using deck-mounted Long Baseling Strain Gauges and a bow accelerometer, and provides:
- Real-time displays of bending moments
- Alarms when unsafe levels of stress are
experienced
- Detection of bow slamming
- Long-term monitor of fatigue during the
vessel's lifetime
- Additional sensors (bow pressure,
heave/pitch/roll) can be fitted to meet more advanced requirements
- It can be used as an aid to saft sea-keeping,
and as a check on the calculations of the Loading Computer
- An output is available for connection to
Voyage Data Recorders (VDR's) and provides valuable safety-related data for
reference purposes
Strainstall designed the first practical Hull Stress Monitoring System, and 'StressAlert ll' is in use world-wide with major ship operators, installations having been approved by major certifying authorities (DNV, Lloyd's Register, ABS).
